Poster analysis

James Nicol

A Civil Action Poster

In this poster we see an enigma created by the half face we see at the front of the text. We also see explosions going around the face showing the nature of the film. With the writing in white and the scenes in the background are black showing the contrast between the nature of the words and the plot. The red sign, signifying danger, saying “NO TRESPASSING” on it shows that this will show illegal acts.

Gamer Poster

Here is another enigma created with a face that is interrupted by another face. This seems to be a common theme with many other posters. Again this is helped by the text which says “who’s playing you?” This adds to our confusion as we do not know the nature of the plot. The red a black are in keeping with the results from our interview and suggest that it is expected of this genre.

Indiana Jones and the crystal skull

In this poster we see Jones with a bright light behind him. Although this doesn’t obscure his face, it does lead us to find it hard for the eye to depict his character. The skull behind can only be seen after looking for it which in turn suggests a journey. The dark underneath the character shows the idea that it will be hard to complete the task ahead.
